(Preface to say that I am Mama to a gender non-confirming kiddo.)

I struggle because, from the cis cheap seats over here, it seems like trans culture reinforces the gender binary v. deconstructing it.

This is not to say that medical and surgical options for gender dysmorphic individuals should be off the table. (Body autonomy always). What I am saying is that it’s tough to argue that binary genders don’t matter or exist when so much of trans culture’s energy is spent focused on legitimizing the process of switching between them.

Promotion of body acceptance for all bodies and eschewing the labeling of anything (be it social role, body part, anything…) as belonging to any one gender or the other feels a lot more progressive and tolerant to me.

Idk…just thoughts.
