My Gen Z, 16-year-old daughter always watches TV with closed captioning…as in, it’s happening as I type this … right now …

… and I thought it was just one of her idiosyncrasies.
I had no idea it was a thing for her generation. While she does have issues with attention and auditory processing, if there’s a swell of kiddos who do this, its reasonable to attribute the phenomenon to some underlying commonality.
I can’t help but wonder how this relates to them being the first gen raised on smart phones and how they’ve been cognitively affected.
Honestly, it’s fascinating.
