I understand, from your description of your content, why that comment would present an emotional tripwire.

However, if you want your IG to be a business, run it like a business.

It sounds like your follower was asking what content they can expect from your account. It’s not judgment. They want to know if they should stay or go.

It’s also not a knock on your virtue. It’s classic brand confusion.

This doesn’t mean you shouldnt take advantage of revenue opportunities. It just means you will need to solidify what your brand is and ensure that your ads are consistent with that brand without relying on justifications.

Whether you love or hate the product is irrelevant. In allowing sponsored content, you are renting out your followers’ attention. It’s necessary to understand why they are giving you their attention and keep your ads consistent with that message.

Only you can decide if its right for your IG, but if you want to pursue the revenue opportunities, you have to understand there will be offsets.

It’s not personal. It’s business. Make money, sister.

Good luck!
